This site, cholmesiv.com, is operated by Charles Holmes IV, based in Chicago, Illinois. In this policy, "I" and "we" mean Charles Holmes IV.
If you use the contact form, I collect what you type into it: your first name, your email address, your phone number (optional), your website URL (optional) and your message. You need to give a name and either an email or a phone number so I can reply.
The site also collects usage data automatically. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, pages requested, browser) for security and spam blocking. Analytics tools (listed below) record how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how you got here.
I use contact form details to reply to you and to schedule a call if that is what you asked for. I use analytics to see which pages are useful and to fix what is not. I use server logs to keep the site secure and to block spam.
Contact form messages are delivered by email to me. The form system keeps no copy of the message after it sends. A simple spam check uses the time the form was open and whether JavaScript ran, and a hidden field catches bots.

Like any content delivery network or font host, these services receive your IP address and browser details when your browser requests their files. I do not sell or rent your personal information, and I do not add people to marketing lists.
I keep emails from the contact form for as long as I need them to reply and to keep a record of the conversation, then delete them when they are no longer useful. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security. Analytics data is kept according to the settings of Google and Microsoft.
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set cookies. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Microsoft explains how it handles data in its privacy statement.

The site is served over HTTPS from a server I manage. No system is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect what you send.
This site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
